Amazing Race-I'm not!

In my quest to pack up my life for 4 months in 2 suitcase (and try to keep them under 50 lbs-yeah right) and rush out the door today I was feeling pretty good that I was actually going to be earlier than my usual "last minute scramble to the airport."  Feeling confident and proud I treated myself to Starbucks and a great gossip magazine.  Everyone boarded the plane as usual and I settled in my middle seat.  "There's been some electrical issues and this flight has been canceled.  Please immediately exit the plane and you're baggage will be at carousel #4," said the rude flight attendant (AMERICAN AIRLINES).  She comes back on the speaker, "Oh and you'll have to call our 800 number to rebook your flight."  I started to feel the stress inside of me and a freak out about happen so I said, "Mindhead" (a quote from one of my favorite movies "Bowfinger").  Kidding aside something kicked in and I ran past the "not so savvy travelers" trying to call American Airlines and made it to another gate where no one was waiting.  I killed them with kindness and was only one of two that made it on the next flight out of SNA!  Go Figure!??!

What's funny about all of this is every time I fly CRAPARICAN AIRLINES this happens to me: Rain, weather, not full enough, and now electrical.  Granted I would rather be safe but I find this funny.

When I arrived in Dallas I realized I must face my 2nd biggest fear..... ESCALATORS!  I have a huge fear of escalators.  It's my mothers fault.  When I was a kid she would tell me to not play on the escalators because they'll eat your toes.  To this day I still think of escalators as the "eat your toes machine."  And the Dallas airport has the largest set of escalators I've ever seen.  I did what I always have to do...take a deep breath and hold the railing so tight my hand will be blue.  GULP!  I survived just in case you were wondering and made it to the train....but gosh dang it I sure hate them!

Next adventure: when I land the rental car location is closed so hopefully BRIAN the nice agent I spoke to left my car and keys at the desk.    CHEERS TO A GOOD START TO LIFE ON THE ROAD!

  1. Sounds wild. Scott just had a crazy flying experience to with 3 different planes. You can never trust the airlines to get you where you want to go on time. That is for sure. Anyway ... have a blast on your adventure and I hope your Bday tomorrow is amazing!
